With a staff of above 1100, Fraunhofer ISE is the largest solar energy research institute in Europe. The work at the Institute ranges from the investigation of scientific and technological fundamentals for solar energy applications, through the development of production technology and prototypes, to the construction of demonstration systems. The Institute plans, advises and provides know-how and technical facilities and services.
Since 1990 Fraunhofer ISE has made important contributions to PV plant quality assurance through its professional services. Fraunhofer ISE offers quality assessments for every stage of power plant project development, from planning to long-term operation.
Fraunhofer ISE’s independent yield assessment and progress checks during the installation increase planning security for banks and investors. Fraunhofer ISE also tests the random selected of PV modules to increase the reliability of PV system’s quality. The extensive, complete testing of entire photovoltaic plants includes visual plant inspections, thermography and the identification of actual levels of performance. Purpose of the inspections carried out by Fraunhofer ISE is the identification of defects or deficiencies of a photovoltaic installation. All the tests are performed with approved procedures according to the current state of the art.
